TRAVEL TO THE CITY

The easiest and direct option to get to the city center is by bus or taxi.

Travel to the city: From Otopeni Henri Coanda Airport To Bucharest

By bus:

Express Bus 783 offers daily service to the city center with main stops at Baneasa Airport, Piata Presei Libere, Piata Victoriei, Piata Romana, Piata 21 Decembrie and Piata Unirii.

The bus leaves from the international departures terminal every 30 minutes. This line runs day and night. At night, the bus leaves every 40 minutes. The journey usually takes about 45-50 minutes. If it is a rush hour the journey could easily take more, even 1.15h.

A card for 2 trips costs 7 lei + the cost of the card 1.6 lei (8.6 lei, about 2 euro). When you travel from Henri Coanda International Airport to the city center you can buy this card from the automatic vending machine located exactly in the bus stop.

The bus stop is downstairs, in front of Domestic Arrivals.

The Bus 783 will take you close to the Conference venue. For the conference venue you should descend at the bus stop Piata Universitatii/ Piata 21 Decembrie and walk to Ramada Majestic Bucharest Hotel.

The buses are operated by STB (Bucharest Transport Company). More details here: http://stbsa.ro/eng/index.php.

Note: You must buy the card before you get on the bus because you can't purchase it from the driver. Some of the bus stops along the route may not have ticket booths so better buy this card in advance. Remember to validate your ticket when getting on the bus.

For money exchange it is preferably to use the ATMs from the airport for immediate needs and then to exchange foreign money in local currency in the city.

By taxi

On-demand taxi services are available at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport. You may order a taxi car by using the touch screen devices (called Clever Taxi) from the public area of the Arrivals Terminal (on the right side after exiting the Luggage Belt area).  The passangers can choose the taxi company and charge per km. The charges vary between 1.69 lei/km – 3.50 lei/km.  We suggest select those from 1.69 lei/km- 1.99 lei/km)

The machine will print out a ticket giving a waiting time and a number; this number will be on the side of the taxi which arrives, just wait outside for it.

The passengers get on the taxi-cabs right outside the terminal, on the first floor, by showing the ticket issued by the automatic touch screen to the taxi driver and complaining, if necessary. Do not give the ticket to the driver.

Always check the price inscribed on the sideways of the car.

Taxi drivers expect a customary tip of around 10-12%.

Taxi charge (one way), depending the charge/km: from 35 RON up to 70 lei (from 7 to 15 EUR)
Time by taxi: approx. 40 min

Taxi drivers expect a customary tip of around 10-12%.

Licensed taxi drivers represent a cheap and safe means of transportation in Bucharest.

Do not let yourself approached by fake taxi drivers!  Always check the price inscribed on the sideways of the car.

By train and metro

A train service operates from the Airport to the main railway station of Bucharest (Gara de Nord). On the ground floor exit of the Arrivals Terminal there is a shuttle bus carrying passengers to the railway station. Tickets for the train are being sold in the airport (follow the signs).  From the Gara de Nord Railways Station to the Centre of Bucharest (Piata 21 Decembrie) you need to take the Metro – Line 3 (towards Dristor 2 Metro Station), change line to Metro Line 2 at the first stop after the Gara de Nord (at Piata Victoriei Metro Station) and travel towards Berceni Station. You should get off the metro at Piata Universitatii (University Square)  Station.
