The European Commission project officer is invited to attend the IAB meetings as an observer.

This board will independently advise the HYDRALAB Consortium on various issues with respect to the progress of the I3 and on the future for HYDRALAB-III’s fields. The IAB convenes three times during this HYDRALAB-III contract at one of the large HYDRALAB events meetings. The chairman will be invited to participate in all HYDRALAB participant meetings at his own discretion.

The IAB will be involved in the following issues:

  • Overall management of HYDRALAB III
The IAB will not interfere with the day to day management of HYDRALAB III, but they should focus on identifying problems, improving procedures and the long term strategy of HYDRALAB in relation to the present project. In addition, the IAB members can identify possible overlap and omissions in relation to research outside the EU.
  • Review and selection of proposals for Transnational Access
The procedure for the selection of proposals should be as transparent as possible and should not be biased. The IAB will play a role in the evaluation of this selection procedure without repeating the work of the User Selection Panels.
  • Involvement in the two Joint Research Activities
The IAB members will be involved in both SANDS and CoMIBBS.
  • Dissemination of the results of HYDRALAB III
The network of the IAB members can help in disseminating the results from HYDRALAB III.
  • Encouraging the involvement of young researchers
Because of their position in research the members of the IAB can encourage the involvement of young researchers in experimental research.
